A VISA FOR A STAY OF MORE THAN 90 DAYS (A LONG-STAY VISA) IS PROCESSED IN TWO STEPS.

The first step is the issuance by the embassy of a ONE MONTH extendable and transformable IN A LONG-STAY VISA.

It is for an initial period of ONE MONTH only and is labeled "extendable and transformable". This one-month period is designed to allow the applicant, ONCE IN MADAGASCAR, to undertake the necessary steps to finalize its long stay visa, which is the second step of the process.

A. Common documents to be submitted to the embassy

· An ORIGINAL PASSPORT or a PASS valid for a minimum of six (6) months from the scheduled date of departure from Madagascar (passport copies not accepted)

· A copy of the passport or pass

. An application form to be completed in both sides and signed by the applicant (photocopy accepted)

· Two recent passport photos

· A POLICE CERTIFICATE of least tree months issued by the country of residence of the Applicant for a Foreign Travel/Work permit visa to be signed by the Embassy.

· A photocopy of A ROUND TRIP TICKET or a travel itinerary issued by an airline company or a travel agency

· A copy of the yellow fever immunization (required from any visitors who have stayed during the last six months in an infested country before arriving in Madagascar).

· A letter of Intent dated and signed by the applicant and which mentions the reasons of the requested long stay (different from the Letter of Invitation)

· The visa fee for a ONE MONTH extendable and transformable in LONG-STAY VISA is 59.00$CAD  per person. (starting January 1st 2019)

· Payment of the visa fee: by cash, Canadian money order or certified check payable to the Embassy of Madagascar to Canada.

· The return of the passport to the applicant:

by registered COURIER ONLY, is payable by the applicant (postage prepaid)

NB:

- The Embassy and Honorary Consulates of Madagascar can only issue a one month "extendable and transformable visa in a long stay visa" for the residents of their own jurisdiction. Nationals of countries where Madagascar does not have any Embassy or Consulate should seek in advance, either by postal service or through a third person duly authorized, a boarding agreement or a 72 hour-visa from the Economic Development Board of Madagascar (EDBM) for the purpose of obtaining extendable visa on arrival in Madagascar.

- The Embassy and Consulates of Madagascar reserve the right to request additional supporting documents

- It is important to keep, at all times, all the original documents that can be requested at the entrance to Madagascar

- The visa issued shall be used within six (06) months from the date of issue.

- Visa fees are subject to change.

B. Specific Documents required:

Workers:

- An employment contract duly signed by the Ministry of Public Service, Labor and Social Laws of Madagascar;

- A certificate of employment issued by the employer;

Family reunification:

- A birth certificate (children) or a photocopy of the marriage certificate (spouse);

- A passport photocopy + the visa of the parents or the spouse already settled in Madagascar;

- A Malagasy certificate of residence of the spouse already living in Madagascar.

Retired workers:

- A retirement Certificate;

- A proof that the bank account to be opened in Madagascar will be regularly funded.

Voluntary workers:

- A volunteering Convention issued by the Ministry of Public Service, Labor and Social Laws of Madagascar.

Religious missionaries:

- A proof of religious adherence;

- A certificate of accommodation and care issued by their congregation in Madagascar;

- An existence certificate of the worship Association (from the Ministry of Interior).

Natives:

- A birth certificate issued by the competent Malagasy authorities .

Students:

- A certificate of Registration;

- A training agreement signed by both institutions concerned;

- A proof of resources or a proof of scholarship;

- A certificate of accommodation or a certificate of care;

- A photocopy of the National Identity Card (NIC) or of the hosts Foreign Identity Card (FIC).

Scientists:

A research permit issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and / or Research.

Investors:

Companies:

- A photocopy of a status (signed by the Ministry of Public Service);

- A photocopy of the Minutes of the Manager appointment (signed by the Ministry of Public Service);

- A proof of the submission of the records to the EDBM (Economic Development Board of Madagascar).

Individual companies:

- A proof of an application for a Professional Card;

- A photocopy of the Tax Identification Number card;

- A proof of the submission of the records to the EDBM (Economic Development Board of Madagascar).
